On The Edge & In Your Face

I'm writing a poetry book and I am planning on creating 150 poems for the book with a little blurb on each poem about what it means to me etc. I currently have 41 poems down.
Here are a few of my favourites I wanted to share:

Betrayal
Her skirts swish as she walks,
Her steps echo on the walls.
Her pace quickens as does her pulse.
She hears the constant steps behind her.

She does not know where to turn,
These halls have never appeared so deserted.
But she feels their eyes watch from the shadows,
No one will help her, no one will care.

The steady footsteps follow her,
She hears them as if they are next to her.
The walls seem to close in upon her,
She knows the path will end soon enough.

What did she do to deserve this ending?
She runs through her life in her mind.
The words that have been spat against her,
No truth to them, but none will be believed.

The wall ahead, stands before her,
Unwilling to create a pass to escape through.
The footsteps cease, she knows what is coming.
She turns to face the man that will betray her.

He stands before her and pulls out the dagger.
Her heart quickens and she closes her eyes.
She gasps as the blade slides through her dress.
A whispered question why, before all turns black.

The treacherous end to an innocent life.

Paranoia
She sits alone in the corner
Huddled up in the dark
The shadows reflecting around the room
The sound of creaking echoes loudly.

Silenced by the terror she awaits her fate
The rain thundering on the windows
She cuddles the doll tighter to her body
Trying to muffle the sound of her cries.

Outside the room she can see them
Their footsteps echo on the wood
She hears them stop outsider her door
Their heavy breathing deafening her ears

She watches the door handle turn
The door begins to open up slowly
She closes her eyes tightly
Silently praying for this nightmare to cease.

Suddenly she hears no more noises
Immediately she opens her eyes
No one appears to be near her
Seemingly only a terrible dream

The cold sweat makes her shiver
Her hands are cold and clammy
Too scared to yet uncurl herself
She sits there in awaken paranoia the rest of the night.

Void Dependence
Depression sets in
She’s feeling lonely
All these people around her
She starts to feel anxious

All laughing and smiling
Not a care in the world
She tries to join them
To forget her troubles

Her poker face betrays her
They notice her pain
She just laughs it off
Like it doesn’t mean anything

Alone in her bedroom
She can be herself
No one to judge her
No one to concern

Her friends all lie to her
They tell her they’ll try
That they will care,
That they will comfort

She knows they don’t mean it
If they could leave her they would
No one to worry about
No reason to feel guilty

She aims to please
She wants to help them
To let them live their lives
Without having to defend her

She wants to stop being a chore
To not have to fight for affection
She can hear their internal sighs
As they rebuild the pieces of her life

She sits there motionless
Staring into the void ahead
Complete and utter dependence
A being without any hope.

Well thank you. :)
What shall I keep up? My incredibly firm handshake or my poetry writing?
I assume you meant the former
